What do I need to hook up my computer to the internet?
Now that we have WiFi installed community wide, all you'll need is your computer. However, you are still able to plug in to the land line. You will only need a CAT 5 (ethernet) cable. We have internet outlets in each bedroom and in the common area. Your computer must be configured properly for the internet to work, and we will give you that information upon move in.
What types of leases are available?
The Reserve offers 12 month lease installments, with terms beginning on August 16, 2012 and ending July 31, 2013. You will have a chance to renew your lease before the end of the lease term, and you can continue your stay with us without moving out.
What types of apartments/rooms are available?
The Reserve offers 2 bed/2 bath, 3 bed/3 bath, and 4 bed/4bath units and we are currently leasing for Fall 2012!
How close to campus are you?
We are 1.2 miles south of SIU and within walking and biking distance. There is a shuttle that goes to and from campus for your convenience. The shuttle currently runs once an hour (:04 after the hour) from 7:04 a.m. to 10:04 p.m Monday through Thursday, until 11:04 on Friday and Saturday, and 12:04-5:04 on Sunday. We are also on the Saluki Express Late Night Route which runs until 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday!

When can I move in?
Move-In day is August 16, 2012.
What if I need to cancel my lease?
Leases are legal contracts for the entire lease term, and the resident will be responsible for the lease. However, we do offer a reassignment option, which involves a $200 fee and the resident will be responsible for finding another resident to take over their lease before they are released from their obligation to the lease. We also offer a three (3) month buy-out of the lease, if the agreement must be cancelled prior to the move-in date due to resident no longer attending SIU. Please speak to a leasing professional for further details.
Is parking available?
The Reserve has ample parking for you and your friends to come over and hang out with you. All parking is free and first-come-first-serve. We have 967 parking spaces with only 768 residents!
What utilities are included in my rent?
The Reserve takes care of all utilities EXCEPT your electric (required) and a land-line telephone (optional). Here is a list of what we provide for your convenience: *Water *Trash Removal *Wireless Internet community wide *Cable + HBO in every bedroom and in the common area
When do I put down a deposit?
We do not require a deposit! However, we do have a service fee of $49 and a $50 application fee. The service fee is applied towards resident and community activities and general upkeep of the property. These fees are payable at the time the application and lease are completed and are non-refundable.
Do I have to have a meal plan?
The Reserve does not offer meal plans. However, SIUC University Housing does offer the Block 20 Plan - a meal plan for off-campus students. Detailed information can be found at https://www.housing.siu.edu/forms/block_20.
How many people live there?
The Reserve is a 768 bed apartment community with 228 apartments.
Will you send me a bill each month for rent?
We do not mail out any type of billing or invoice. Residents are responsible for paying their rent in a timely manner. Rent will be due on the first of each month. However, we will send you a move-in letter in May/June and will remind you about your first monthly installment due on July 15th.
If I am over 21, do I need to have a guarantor?
Our rental requirements are the same for each person regardless of age. There are two options available to you if you do not choose to get a guarantor 1. Pay the lease in full, or 2. Pay a security deposit - refundable pending move out charges and/or late rent, etc. - equal to three rent payments.
When is my first payment due?
Your first rental installment for the August 2012 rent will need to be received by our office no later than July 15, 2012.
If I pay in full, do I get a discount?
Currently, we offer no discounts to those that choose to pay rent in full. However, there is the peace of mind knowing that you do not have to worry about getting rent to us each month and accumulating late fees if you are past the deadline.
What size are the beds?
All the beds at The Reserve are extended full size beds, which provides you with more comfort and room than a single or twin size bed. Jersey knit full size sheets will fit these beds just fine since they stretch, but otherwise you will want to go with a queen set.
Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?
All of our apartment homes are very spacious and provide ample room for you to bring personal furniture items. All Reserve furniture must stay within your apartment home, so make sure to plan your decorating prior to move in. We know you will love the furniture package that we have to offer!
What if I do not have my own roommates?
Not a problem! We have an awesome roommate matching program at The Reserve. You will complete a Roommate Matching Card when you complete your lease, specifying your roommate criteria. We will then match you with roommates based on their criteria and send that information to all roommates prior to move in. This enables all roommates to meet each other and become friends before you even move in. The criteria we ask is: whether you prefer male or female or coed roommates, smoking or non-smoking preferences, studying habits, social habits, and there is also a spot for additional comments and questions.
